If you have back pain, you know how much it can interfere with living how you want. You may struggle to walk, lift, sit, or even lay because of the discomfort. While pain medications can reduce your pain, even over-the-counter ones have their share of drawbacks. An option that may help you is trigger point therapy at Cafe of Life Chiropractic & Wellness.

What You Should Know About Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a specialized type of massage therapy that targets your trigger points -- the locations of the origin of your pain. For instance, you may have lower back pain as a result of an issue with your legs. Therefore, the massage focuses on your legs.

Dr. Hastings massages the center around your triggers point to ease the pressure. The entire concept of trigger point therapy revolves around the fact that waste products build around your nerve clusters and stimulate nerve pain and other nerve-related symptoms. Sometimes, these symptoms spread beyond the initial site of the pain because the waste can cause bands or nodules that press on your soft tissue. The massage breaks up the clusters to ease your symptoms.

What to Expect During a Trigger Point Therapy Session

During your initial appointment, Dr. Hastings will ask you to fill out a medical history report. From this information, Dr. Hastings determines if trigger point therapy is safe for you based on your current and previous medical conditions.

At Cafe of Life Chiropractic & Wellness your treatment starts on a sterilized table. You may go through breathing exercises first. Next, your therapist identifies the root of your problem based on your Dr. Hastings evaluation. Through your trigger point therapy, your massage therapist performs techniques that deeply stimulate the muscles around your trigger points.

After the procedure, you should have minimal discomfort from the treatment itself; however, you may need several sessions to feel the full benefits of trigger point therapy.

Trigger point therapy helps with back and other neuromuscular pain and other symptoms. The procedure is safe for most, and the entire treatment process caters to your particular needs.

Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "My name is Lilian and I have struggled with back pain as a result of poor posture. I have been experiencing scoliosis and nerve aches since my teenage years. After a number of visits with two separate neurologists, their recommendation was to simply use pain medication and accept living in pain. Ultimately, I turned to chiropractic care as a final option. Looking back, I wish I could've known sooner about going to see a chiropractor. This specialized care restored my health and changed my outloo"

  • "Excellent service, they explain everything and help you to really improve, not for a simple back adjustment"

  • "I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, anxiety disorder and PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). I was in constant pain and sometimes wasn't able to do simple household chores. I had horrible fatigue and woke up exhausted every day even if I slept 10 hours. I Had migraines daily and anxiety attacks that eventually would come with no apparent cause. I was depressed and miserable. I went to every specialist: Endocrinologist, cardiologist, neurologist, rheumatologist... Some thought I was crazy and asked "
